Coventry City’s summer transfer business was seemingly thrown a curve ball on Friday when it was reported that Sheffield United are interested in Bobby Thomas.

Sky Sports claimed that the Blades have been in “talks” with the Sky Blues and are prepared to pay up to £8m for the defender, who joined the CBS Arena from Burnley for around £2m in the summer of 2023. The BBC, meanwhile, have reported that United made a bid in the region of £5m for the player.

Two years into his four year contract, the 24-year-old is three appearances off his 100th for the club in all competitions, and continues to be one of Frank Lampard’s first choice centre-backs.
