California's Assembly Bill 495 is gaining national attention, with opponents saying it poses risks to children’s safety. But proponents believe it is a necessary response to growing concerns about family separations due to immigration enforcement action.

“The cruel and unlawful federal immigration enforcement actions are spreading fear through many communities like mine. Californians are scared to go to work, send their kids to school or make their medical appointments.
