PENTWATER — Alicia Kolenda, who serves as the golf coach at Pentwater, who also teaches golf at the Golden Sands Golf Course south of Pentwater, has been awarded the Michigan Golf Coaches Association’s Regional Coach Of the Year.

She received her award August 5.

Said Kolenda, “I feel so thankful to be awarded Regional Golf Coach Of the Year!”

“It’s an award that is chosen by your peers, “Kolenda said. “I was shocked to hear they chose me, considering we do have larger schools in our region.”

Kolenda also said, “When I asked them, they said they chose me because of all I do to help grow the game to all I meet.”

“That was so sweet,” she said.
