The £11 million Star of Caledonia landmark is set to get the green light from planners. ‌

It’s hoped the 33m tall artwork – which would be visible from the M74 at Gretna Green near the border between Scotland and England – will attract 250,000 visitors a year to the region. ‌

And Dumfries and Galloway Council's planning applications committee is being encouraged to recommend the latest plans when it meets next week. ‌

Planning permission for a 40m version of the landmark was granted in 2013, however as the £4.8 million price tag soared, a revised proposal was created.
