A TV advert for Sanex shower gel has been banned, after it was deemed it included a 'racial stereotype likely to cause serious offence.'
The advertisement, which was broadcast in June 2025, showed a video of a black woman with red scratch marks, alongside another covered in a cracked clay-like material.
A voiceover accompanied the ad, which said: "To those who might scratch day and night. To those whose skin will feel dried out even by water.
Following these scenes, clips of a white woman were shown having a shower with the Sanex shower gel, with a voice message which was heard as: "Try to take a shower with the new Sanex skin therapy and its patented amino acid complex. For 24 hour hydration feel."
