President Donald Trump recently deployed more than 2,000 National Guard troops in Washington, D.C., in a disputed effort to fight crime in the city.

While Trump has not discussed plans to dispatch troops to other U.S. cities, Mayor Craig Greenberg said he would "strongly oppose" any federal deployments in Louisville in the future.

Greenberg made waves in July when he complied with a Trump administration request to hold inmates in the U.S. unlawfully for up to an additional 48 hours.
