WASHINGTON — The Air Force's top uniformed officer, Gen. David Allvin, will retire early, the Pentagon said Monday, the latest early departure of a high-ranking general under President Trump.
Allvin, the chief of staff of the Air Force, will retire around Nov. 1 — two years into a four-year term — according to the Pentagon, which said that he would continue to serve until a replacement is confirmed by the Senate, allowing "time for a smooth leadership transition." The statement did not say who would replace Allvin.
