After an exceptional month of July, Brandon Sproat returned to his old ways in August, allowing eight earned runs in 9.1 innings over two starts on the 7th and the 14th. The right-hander got back on track with a strong six innings, allowing one earned run on two hits and a walk while striking out eight. The bullpen unfortunately blew up- lemme know if you’ve heard that one before- with Chris Devenski giving up three in the top of the ninth- though, to his credit, all three were unearned due to a Luis De Los Santos fielding error- wasting a heroic Joey Meneses homer in the eighth that gave Syracuse the lead. • SS Luisangel Acuña: 2-3, 2 R, 2B, RBI, 2 BB, SB (5) • CF Jett Williams: 0-5, 3 K • RF José Azocar: 0-5,
