The Mets’ modest winning streak came to an end after just three games as Kodai Senga struggled against the Nationals tonight in D.C. and the team’s comeback effort came up short.

Senga gave up two runs in each of the third and fourth innings to put the Mets down 4-0 early, and after Brett Baty got the Mets on the board with a solo home run that was an absolute blast, Senga allowed a run in the bottom of the inning to give the Nationals their four-run cushion right back. In total, Senga went five innings and gave up five runs—four of them earned—on six hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
