The Mets handled the Nationals easily in an 8-1 victory. David Peterson was the story of the game, going eight innings and striking out ten while only allowing one run. Ryne Stanek came in for the ninth and gave up only one hit in a scoreless inning to close the game easily. Mark Vientos hit a two run home run while Brett Baty, Juan Soto, and Jeff McNeil each hit solo home runs. Jeff McNeil had a great game, going three for four with a walk.
