The A65 Abbey Road near Burley Rugby and Football Club in Kirkstall has been closed in both directions after a woman was hit by a car this morning (August 20). Emergency services received reports of the accident at 10.58am.

After arriving on the scene, an ambulance took the woman to hospital. A road closure now remains in place on the road as investigations continue. Drivers are urged to stay away from the area.

A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "At 10.58am police were called to a report of a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Abbey Road, Leeds.

"Officers attended and the female pedestrian was taken to hospital.

"A road closure remains in place and investigations are ongoing at the scene."
