A total of 230 incidents of deliberate fireraising were recorded by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service last year in South Ayrshire.
And of those 230 incidents, 61 of them took place within the Ayr North ward, according to a new report.
The figures are contained within the year-end performance (quarter four) of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service in South Ayrshire for 2024/25. The figures cover the period from 1st April 2024 to 31st March 2025.
According to the report, the Ayr North ward, which covers the likes of Braehead, Craigie, Dalmilling, Heathfield, Lochside, Newton, Northfield, Whitletts and Wallacetown, was far and away the leading area for deliberate fires.
Prestwick was second in the list on 38, while Troon and Ayr West both recorded 33.
