President Donald Trump demanded the resignation of Biden-appointee Lisa Cook Wednesday over allegations that she committed fraud, allegations that are nearly identical to those levied against the president last year that he was ultimately found liable for and ordered to pay more than $350 million.
“Cook must resign, now!” Trump wrote in a fiery online post Wednesday on his social media platform Truth Social. The post was accompanied by a link to a report from Bloomberg detailing the allegations against Cook, who was appointed by former President Joe Biden to serve as the Federal Reserve governor.
Last week, Federal housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte, a staunch Trump ally, sent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi detailing allegations against Cook that she may have committed fraud by having “falsified bank documents and property records to acquire more favorable loan terms.”
The allegations against Cook are strikingly similar to those levied against Trump in 2024, where he was accused of inflating asset values by billions of dollars to secure more favorable loans, insurance coverage and tax advantages. Trump was ultimately found liable for the charges, and ordered to pay $354 million in damages.
The New York Attorney General who led the fraud case against Trump, Letitia James, is now being
targeted by Trump’s Justice Department, specifically by DOJ Pardon Attorney Edward Martin, who has attempted to intimidate James by posing for photos outside her home and pressuring her to resign, despite no criminal charges having been filed against her.
