ALEXANDRIA, Ky. (WXIX) - An Alexandria police officer is being credited with keeping a family together after she saved a man’s life using an AED.
It has been almost one year since Project Heart Restart had 168 AEDs distributed to police departments across Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
The importance of just one of those defibrillators was demonstrated in Alexandria.
“Nobody knew it was going to happen, but the AED’s were given to us at the right time,” Officer Whitney Buerger told FOX19 NOW.
Buerger was still working with the Alexandria Police Department when she got the call that a man in his 30s was unresponsive in his basement. She was the first to arrive with an AED that she had been given just two days prior to the emergency.
