HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - On this date in 1925, Hollywood movie star Gloria Swanson was in New Martinsville, WV, working on a screenplay.

She unexpectedly became the dinner date of the governor at the time, Howard Gore.

The governor had gotten side-tracked by a train delay and Swanson found out he had no place to stay and offered to share the house she was using.

They even attended a movie together that night.

Then, he got back on the train the next morning and headed back to work in Charleston.
