EAST RUTHERFORD - Elijah Chatman wants to set the record straight.
Even though he loves the story and welcomes any hyperbole his New York Giants teammates and coaches use in order to describe the presence he has had as a fullback this summer, here are the facts.
"So far, it's only been two facemasks that I've broken," Chatman told NorthJersey.com and The Record with a laugh. "A little exaggeration on the coaches' part, I haven't played fullback A LOT, but whenever I did, the damage was noticeable."
Last summer, Chatman was an undrafted rookie whose against-the-odds story suddenly captured the imagination of a franchise when he got into high gear, racing after a speedy opposing running back as if the guy with the football was representative of the roster spot he was chasing down.
