Stop & Shop announced this week that it is lowering prices at all 88 of its eastern Massachusetts stores starting Friday.
The Quincy-based supermarket chain said the cuts are expected to be completed by the end of the month, and said shoppers will see lower prices on thousands of items across almost every department, including national brands and Stop & Shop branded products.

According to The Boston Globe , prices on more than 3,000 items will be cut by anywhere from 5% to 40%. The price reductions will be highlighted in store using yellow tags showing the new and old pricing.
For example, Stop & Shop Italian bread will go from $2.49 to $1.79, a decrease of 28%. A 5-pound bag of russet potatoes will go from $3.99
