IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - The University of Iowa announced the executive director for the new Office of Writing and Communication last week.

Director of the Magid Center for Writing, Daniel Khalastchi, will serve in the new role. Khalastchi has over 10 years of experience leading communication and writing programs at Iowa.

Khalastchi joined the university in 2011, assisting in the establishment of the Magid Center. Since then, he has played an important role in “expanding student opportunities and stewarding major donor support,” according to the University of Iowa.

Khalastchi has served as the director for the Magid Center since 2016. In his role as director, he helped with the creation of Iowa’s Undergraduate Writing Certificate, and enhanced writing instruction across multiple discipl
