CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago's mayor and police superintendent spoke with the West Side community about an outbreak of gun violence earlier this month.

Chicago police responded to multiple shootings in the Austin neighborhood during the weekend of August 9.
Some of the shootings were linked to a large party that had been advertised online.
Community members asked why police did not respond sooner during a community meeting on large gatherings.
"The locations changed," CPD Superintendent Larry Snelling said. "If someone changes that location at the last minute, and we are at one place looking for it to occur there, we have to get those resources and move them."
