In its final year playing an independent schedule before the reformation of the Pac-12, Oregon State football has its share of challenges.

Road games at No. 23 Texas Tech and No. 7 Oregon. A season opener against a California team that crushed OSU last season, 44-7, in Berkeley. A rare, two-game regular season series against fellow Pac-2 survivor Washington State.

But on the whole, the Beavers’ schedule looks favorable. Eight games, including the final seven of the season, are against teams ranked below them in ESPN’s College Football Power Index (FPI).

That includes FPI No. 106 Sam Houston State, No. 133 Tulsa, and FCS school Lafayette.
