A State Police trooper was taken to the hospital after a confrontation with a suspect in Danvers, officials said.
On Sunday, the trooper saw a GMC truck on Mill Street in Danvers that was wanted in connection with a domestic assault, State Police said. Police in Salem had urged law enforcement to be on the lookout for the truck.
“When the suspect became confrontational and assaultive, the Trooper used OC Spray to safely take the suspect into custody without further incident,” a State Police spokesperson said by email.
Oleoresin capsicum spray, known as OC spray or pepper spray, irritates the eyes and causes them to close, which allows law enforcement to subdue someone more easily.
