FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Twelve drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence at a DUI checkpoint in the Tower District Saturday night, the Fresno Police Department said.
Police say 271 vehicles were contacted at the checkpoint that was held from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. at Wishon and Hedges avenues.
Fifteen drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license. According to police, DUI checkpoint locations are based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
