CHARLOTTE, N.C. — North Carolina officials announced the launch of an intensive statewide campaign to combat impaired driving during the Labor Day holiday period, following over 400 alcohol-involved crashes last year that resulted in 11 deaths.
The N.C. Governor's Highway Safety Program's "Booze It & Lose It" enforcement initiative runs through Sept. 7 and will feature increased saturation patrols and checkpoints across the state during what officials call one of the most dangerous travel periods of the year.
