NORTH BRANFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A Florida man was sentenced to 18 years in prison for the 2024 death of a North Branford man, according to the North Branford Police Department.

James Black of Sebring, Florida struck and killed 65-year-old David Horbal of North Branford in March 2024 on Foxon Road. Black then fled the scene of the crash.

He was charged with manslaughter, evading responsibility resulting in death and tampering with evidence.

Black, who is 42 years old, is set to serve 18 years.
