A 20-year-old woman has died from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on Sunday afternoon on Farrington Highway, Honolulu police said.

The Honolulu Police Department’s Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, said the crash happened about 3:03 p.m. Sunday, east of Ala Akau Street. Investigators said the woman was riding westbound when she lost control of her motorcycle and struck a raised concrete curb, causing her to be ejected onto the roadway.

She was taken to an area hospital in critical condition and later died from her injuries, police said Tuesday.

Police said the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Speed appears to be a contributing factor, but it is not yet known whether drugs or alcohol played a role.
