HARTINGTON, Neb. (KTIV) - A woman convicted for her role in four Northeast Nebraska murders is trying to get a new trial.
In court documents, the defense for Carrie Jones filed a motion claiming her right to a fair trial was violated. The documents do not list any specific violations related to her trial, but under Nebraska law, a new trial may be granted on several grounds, including insufficient evidence, newly discovered evidence, errors of law, and jury misconduct.
Back on Thursday, Aug. 7, 46-year-old Carrie was found guilty of first-degree murder, tampering with evidence and accessory to a felony. A hearing to discuss the new trial has been set for Thursday, Nov. 20, that is the same day Carrie was scheduled to be sentenced.
