COLUMBIA, S.C. - The criminal trial has been delayed for a former South Carolina state representative accused of distributing child sex abuse material.
On Wednesday, a federal judge agreed to delay jury selection and the trial for former Republican state Rep. RJ May of Lexington County until early October.
It was initially scheduled to start next month.

A judge denied bond Tuesday morning for a 17-year-old girl charged with murdering her mother and stepfather in Carroll County.
May’s public defender is also asking for the judge to throw out the search warrant for May’s home from August of last year – and to not allow it to be presented as evidence at trial.
