WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — As kids in West Hartford prepare to head back to the classroom, some of them are putting together a special something for their teacher.
For fifteen dollars, families can stuff boxes with as many books as they can at The Next Chapter bookstore for 'Fill a Box Week.' They are also able to take home some books for themselves.
The bookstore is owned by the school district.
"It's just so nice," Heather Moran, owner of The Book Club in West Hartford, said. She was at the store Wednesday with a number of children part of the learning center's summer camp program. "They get to explore, dig into books, it's like treasure hunting for them."
The Next Chapter says the initiative promotes reading among children, while helping out teachers, who often pay for new books
