A new service opened in Lame Deer aimed at bolstering employment and vocational training for the Northern Cheyenne Nation.
The Job Service Office was established through a joint resolution between the Northern Cheyenne Tribe and the Montana Department of Labor and Industry. It’s the first such office to open in decades and is part of a larger statewide effort to galvanize Montana’s workforce.
“When a program or a position is not filled here, it’s robbing our tribal membership of a resource,” said Melissa Lonebear, a representative for the Northern Cheyenne Tribal Council.
