Windsor West’s new representative MP Harb Gill is pushing for clarity on the Gordie Howe International Bridge timeline following reports its opening may be delayed until 2026.

“Let’s get that bridge open as fast as we can,” Gill told the Star, adding that he doesn’t have further details on the bridge’s progress.

“Finish the work. I would rather have it open yesterday than tomorrow, because people in the transportation sector and the manufacturing sector want that bridge to open.”

While construction of the bridge is nearly complete, an S&P Global Ratings report obtained by the Star in late July said setbacks at the ports of entry could push the anticipated fall opening of the $6.4-billion bridge back at least six months.
