CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A Cleveland Police officer was arrested and charged with an OVI after crashing into Romeo’s Pizza in North Olmsted early Wednesday morning.

According to a report from North Olmsted Police, officers were dispatched to Romeo’s Pizza at 28931 Lorain Road for a report of a car that crashed into the restaurant around 2:46 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found a silver Volkswagen Jetta, driven by Gary Eugene Kane II, crashed into the north side of Romeo’s Pizza.

North Olmsted Police confirmed Kane is a Cleveland Police Officer, and according to Ohio Attorney General records, Kane is a 9-year veteran of the department.

Officers assisted Kane out of the car and observed a strong odor of alcohol and a glossy appearance in his eyes.
