CHICAGO— Nearly 150 athletes with intellectual disabilities will get the chance to compete in a series of sporting events during this year's Golden Games.

The third annual event, hosted by Special Children’s Charities, offers current and retired athletes with intellectual disabilities the chance to compete in a series of events, including bocce, track and field, soccer, softball and flag football.

The athletes range in age from 45 to 75 years old and organizers say the event offers them the chance to gather and enjoy experiences they may not otherwise have the opportunity to do so.

In addition to the athletes, 65 coaches from across the city will join in on the fun, which is taking place at the ComEd Recreation Center at Addams Park.
