Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department celebrated the opening of the IMPD Mounted Patrol Barn and Indoor Riding Arena at 3325 W. Vermont St. on Aug. 20, honoring Carmel businessman Turner Woodard, a major donor who secured the facility’s naming rights.

IMPD Chief Christopher Bailey said completion of the facility is a testament to the love the community has for the city’s officers and horses.

“We are deeply grateful to the Central Indiana Police Foundation and the countless community partners and donors whose generosity and commitment made this project possible,” he said. “Their support reflects the strength of the bond between our department and the people we serve, and it ensures that the mounted unit will continue to be a cherished part of IMPD and our city for years to come.”
