PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – The public pool at Peninsula Park is closing two weeks earlier than planned, and just in time for another hot weekend in Portland.
The early closure set for Friday, Aug. 22, is due to a “complex mechanical issue with the boiler system,” according to the City of Portland. The pool was originally set to be open until Sept. 5.
The pool’s closure comes as Portland is expected to reach near triple-digit temperatures over the weekend.
Record-breaking heat is possible on Friday as forecasts show the mercury potentially hitting 98 degrees. As the temps continue to climb, Portland could officially see its first 100-degree day this coming weekend.
