Fort Wayne officials said today they want to start a community conversation about the heat and air quality data the Community Development Division has collected over the last year.
The results, released today, show the city’s hotspots are in more developed areas with more concrete and less green space, including downtown.
The heat map can be found at engage.cityoffortwayne.org by clicking on the “Heat Study” section. It shows the city’s hottest areas include the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, along Coliseum Boulevard and Glenbrook Square Mall. Cooler areas include Parkview Field, the Highland Park Forest near the St. Joseph River and city parks.
The study, funded by a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration grant and local sponsors, covered 100 of the cities 110 square mi
