A 14-year-old boy was critically injured this morning after his dirt bike collided with a vehicle on Kolowaka Drive near Fort Weaver Road in Ewa, authorities said.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services reported that paramedics responded to the crash at about 7:42 a.m. and administered advanced life support before transporting the boy to an area hospital in critical condition.

Honolulu police shut down Kolowaka Drive in both directions near Fort Weaver Road while they investigated the crash, issuing a traffic advisory at about 8:11 a.m. No update was immediately available on the condition of the vehicle driver, and it was unclear if speed or other factors played a role in the collision.

The investigation is ongoing.
