AUSTIN, Texas — Three North Texas families, united by unimaginable grief, addressed Texas lawmakers Wednesday in Austin, asking them to honor the lives of their daughters by passing stricter regulations on Texas’ summer camps.

The parents, whose children died when floodwaters swept them away at Camp Mystic, spoke to lawmakers about their daughters. They described the girls’ beautiful spirits, kind dispositions, unending joy and tragic death.

They also addressed the failures that led to their daughters' deaths in the Guadalupe River and asked that no other parent be forced to experience the devastation of losing their child.
