THUNDER BAY — Enbridge Gas says it has completed repairs to a gas pipeline on High Street that was damaged on Tuesday morning, resulting in a loss of service to nearly 600 customers.

The incident occurred about 11 a.m. at the Dawson Street intersection with High Street North, where the road has been dug up for reconstruction.

An Enbridge spokesperson told Newswatch early Wednesday afternoon its crews have finished repairs and "made the area safe," thereby clearing the way for service to be restored.

But company personnel must enter each home to restart the flow of gas.

The spokesperson said workers would go door-to-door throughout the day as well as on Thursday until all customers were reconnected.

Enbridge has not disclosed how the incident happened.
