CLEVELAND, Ohio - Two longtime Cleveland educators died in a car accident while taking their son to college Friday in North Carolina, prompting an outpouring of community support through a GoFundMe campaign that has raised more than $216,000 for their four children.

Donald Nunney and his wife Maria Nunney died after their Honda Odyssey went off the road, struck several trees and went down an embankment before hitting a large tree at 1:20 p.m. in North Carolina, according to WNCN, a Raleigh television station.

“These four incredible children are facing an unimaginable loss,” friends wrote on the GoFundMe site, which has surpassed its $150,000 goal. “As their family, we want to do everything we can to make sure their needs are cared for and their futures are protected.”
