In a powerful tribute to culture, legacy, and unity, the Interstate 55 bridge connecting Memphis, Tennessee, and West Memphis, Arkansas, will now be officially known as Kings' Crossing, TDOT officials announced.
The new name, jointly adopted by the Tennessee General Assembly and the Arkansas Highway Commission, honors three iconic "Kings" who left an indelible mark on the region and the world: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., B.B. King, and Elvis Presley.
“Kings’ Crossing is more than just a piece of infrastructure; it is a symbol of our collective history, heritage, and the enduring spirit of unity that defines this region,” said TDOT Commissioner Will Reid.
ARDOT Director Jared Wiley added, “It’s only fitting to name this vital crossing after three transformative figures from our region.
