ROSEVILLE, Calif. —

A section of Interstate 80 in Placer County Wednesday was dedicated to the memory of Marine Sgt. Nicole Gee.

Gee, who grew up in Roseville, was killed in an attack in Afghanistan four years ago next week.

Gee and other Marines who served during Operation Allies Refuge are credited with saving tens of thousands of lives in Afghanistan.

"For us, the biggest thing we worry about is her being forgotten," said Gee's aunt Cheryl Juels.

The new sign can be viewed on eastbound I-80 past Douglas Boulevard. The stretch of roadway from the Douglas Boulevard overcrossing to the junction of Highway 65 has been named the Sergeant Nicole Gee U.S. Marine Corps Memorial Highway.

Juels said she hoped drivers would see the sign and "know that we support our fallen here in Rosevill
