SPARTA, Kentucky — Several people are facing trespassing charges after police say influencers have been breaking into the Kentucky Speedway, making videos and posting them to social media.

Gallatin County Sheriff Robert "Bud" Webster said several months ago, influencers broke into the Kentucky Speedway where they made videos and posted them to TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.

In these videos, they claimed the Kentucky Speedway was an "abandoned" racetrack. Sheriff Webster says this isn't true.

"Kentucky Speedway is NOT abandoned! They still hold driving schools and other various events there occasionally," Webster said in a news release.

Certain parts of the property are also rented out to other companies, authorities said.
