A suburban Chicago mom went "to infinity and beyond" when crafting an emotional surprise for her son as he prepared to leave home for college -- and video of the moment has the Internet in tears.

Kathy Szram said she thought she hadn't done enough for 18-year-old Ben Szram as he prepared to head away from home for the first time and start his new journey at Loyola University in Chicago.

So she spent more than a month planning a special sendoff only a mother could do.

"I know he's not that far, but it's far enough for me and I know his life will change after he walks out of the door of our house," Szram told NBC Chicago. "I wanted to create a good memory for him."
