LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A wrist injury threatened to end the career of a Kentucky record-holding weightlifter. Her grip and strength were regained with the help of surgery.
Amber Englebright is lifting her way to the top, but she wasn’t always a weightlifter. She once weighed over 400 pounds, which resulted in chronic back pain.
“It was kind of my time,” said Englebright.
She turned to fitness for help.
“It became a space where I could start to feel better physically. Then it kind of transformed into mentally. And then it’s neat to be able to see all the things that you’re capable of that you didn’t know you were capable of,” said Englebright.
