ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) -- NASCAR's new schedule has race weekend at Watkins Glen International taking place during Mother’s Day weekend in 2026. When it comes to safety, the objectives of keeping things safe and prepared for race fans won't change, according to NYSP Public Information Officer Lynnea Crane.

This year's NASCAR Cup Series Go Bowling at The Glen was held in early August and in September of 2024. In 2026, the NASCAR weekend at Watkins Glen will run from May 8 through May 10. Although race fans might not have to wait too long for the cars to hit the track next year, Trooper Crane says the mission remains consistent in focusing on public safety, maintaining traffic flow, and collaboration with agencies, despite the new date.
