A shooting victim ended up on the University of Alabama at Birmingham campus Wednesday morning, leading to a large police presence at the scene.

The man was shot in the northern section of Birmingham before 6:30 a.m., according to UAB police.

The man was trying to get to the hospital's emergency room but was not able to make it that far. His car stopped near the UAB Early Learning Center at 1100 10th Avenue South. Police said there was no danger to the area.

Birmingham police are investigating but have not released any details about the victim's condition, the location of the shooting, or what led to it.

Police said there are no suspects in custody.
