DALLAS — The families of five young women killed in a fiery Burnet County crash are suing the driver, his father, and his father's business, alleging negligence and wrongful death.

On July 25, Kody Lane Talley, 37, was driving a truck towing a horse trailer northbound on U.S. 281 when he crossed into oncoming traffic, according to a Texas Department of Transportation crash report.

Investigators say Talley first struck one vehicle before colliding head-on with a car carrying Thalia Salinas, Ruby Cruz, Jacqueline Velazco Ventura, Brianna Alysea Valadez, and Desiree Cervantes.

The impact sent the women’s vehicle airborne before it overturned and became fully engulfed in flames, according to the crash report. All five women, who were close friends from Dallas, died at the scene.
