A Talladega man is facing a felony charge after making threats toward an area elementary school.

On Wednesday, Devious Elwood Wilson, 37, was arrested and charged with making a terrorist threat in the first degree, according to the Talladega Police Department.

Police say three recorded messages were sent to RL Young Elementary School on Tuesday, threatening it and those inside. The school was placed on heightened security.

Police immediately identified Wilson as a person of interest. He is being held in the Talladega County Jail pending an initial court appearance on Friday.

Heightened security measures for all Talladega City Schools will continue throughout the day.
