WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - With the pool season over, the City of Wichita is making sure the water doesn’t go to waste.

Water from Aley and McAfee Pool is being pumped out by the park maintenance team and being used to fill the ponds at MacDonald Golf Course.

The city said this helps with the ponds retention and also provides a supplemental water source for irrigating the golf course.

The new conservation measure comes a day after the city passed permanent outdoor water restrictions, limiting outdoor watering to three days a week for those who use city water.

Residents with an odd-numbered address can water on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Those with even addresses can water on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

No watering is allowed on Monday, or between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
