OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) - Staff members at the Humane Society of Marion County say they were checking the playing area on Monday morning when they found the sinkhole.

The hole is fairly deep, and with this being the largest playing area at the facility, it was crucial for staff to get it filled fast.

Executive Director Eddie Leedy says they had this issue last year as well.

“Last year we actually had a small sinkhole that was, and staff we actually filled it in and felt like it was not a big deal, but unfortunately, as you can see, it’s reopened after the heavy rain,” said Leedy.

It seems the pups knew that their favorite and biggest playing area is closed because of their eagerness to go back outside.

But Leedy says it won’t be closed much longer.
